Now that we’re half way through the year it’s timely to check out this post from Jim Laverty at Upp Technology. (it also comes with a great infographic).

Back in January Jim looked at what the top trends would be for supply chain’s in 2016. He pitched

1/ Supply Chain resilience
2/ Circular Supply Chains
3/ Cloud Computing
4/ Wearable Technology finds it’s place in the Supply Chain
5/ Continual improvement driven by data analysis

Go check out the link for the complete top 10.

Mid-Year is a good point to check out how well your strategy is coming along and if we were to check out Jim’s ideas from January, how do they stand up?

Firstly these trends suggest an increase use and reliance on technology. Is your firm utilising wearable tech yet? We recently wrote about DHL’s use of google glasses as part of it’s stores and distribution processes and chances are whilst it’s yet to catch on everywhere – it’s gaining popularity and finding it’s place within the supply chain. Use of Cloud computing and data analytics? Well the analytics is a no brainer. Companies are increasingly needing to demonstrate agility and pace, good analytics (performance driven reporting) is integral (always has been to be honest).

2016 has seen a degree of turbulence (increased world security issues, brevet etc). Globally we’re full of complex issues affecting our supply chains. Coping with this complexity will assist you in not being an also ran.

So – how were your Supply Chain new years resolutions? Did they work out? We’d love to hear your thoughts in our comments section.
